MotionUI or AEUX: the short answer

Choose MotionUI for a workflow that takes you from Figma import to finished UI animation. AEUX may still suit an existing setup, but its original developer no longer maintains it. Starting fresh means taking on a legacy installation process.

AEUX’s installation guide starts with a ZIP download from GitHub. You then install the After Effects extension with a separate ZXP installer and import the Figma plugin manually from its manifest file in the desktop app. The plugin files need to stay in that folder for it to keep working.
