Troubleshooting

Fix a Figma or After Effects connection

Work through missing linked files, a silent panel or a waiting import.

Figma is open, but no file is linked

  1. Open MotionUI on your computer.

  2. Run the MotionUI plugin inside the actual Figma file you want to use.

  3. Keep the plugin window open and check Linked files in the MotionUI app.

  4. If you just updated MotionUI, close the Figma plugin and run it again.

After Effects is open, but the panel is silent

Open MotionUI from the Extensions area of the After Effects Window menu. Check Link to After Effects in the MotionUI app. After a panel update, restart After Effects if reopening the panel does not restore the connection.

An import is waiting or slow

Check Recent imports to see whether MotionUI is reading the selection, saving files, waiting for After Effects or building layers. Bring Figma to the foreground while it reads a selection. Figma can slow plugin work when it is in the background. When triggered from After Effects, MotionUI may briefly bring Figma forward for this reason.
