Getting started

Install the Figma plugin

Load the plugin supplied by the MotionUI app and link your first Figma file.

The current setup uses the plugin files supplied with MotionUI. You can install them through Figma desktop without waiting for a Community listing.

Load the plugin once

  1. Open the Figma tab in MotionUI and find Get the plugin.

  2. Click Copy plugin files. The app prepares the local files and copies the manifest path. Use Copy path if you need it again.

  3. In Figma desktop, choose Plugins → Development → Import plugin from manifest.

  4. On macOS, press Command + Shift + G in the file picker and paste the copied path. On Windows, paste it into the File name field. Open manifest.json.

  5. Open your design file and run Plugins → Development → MotionUI.

Check the connection

Keep the plugin open. Your file should appear under Linked files in the MotionUI app. Run the plugin in the file you want to work on; opening Figma alone does not link a file.

After an update

The local plugin files refresh with MotionUI updates. Close the MotionUI plugin in Figma and run it again to load the current build.
