Set up MotionUI for Premiere Pro

MotionUI for Premiere lets Claude Code or Codex work in the Premiere Pro project you have open. Claude reads sequences, footage and transcripts, looks at frames, cuts, sets markers, levels and fades, grades and exports. The panel has no editing buttons of its own. It is how Claude reaches your project.

What you need

• Premiere Pro 2026 (version 26.0 or newer) on Mac or Windows.

• The MotionUI app 2.0 or newer and MotionUI Pro.

• Claude Code, in the Claude desktop app or the terminal, or Codex. A regular Claude chat cannot reach Premiere.

• Optional: your own OpenAI API key for transcripts.

Set it up

1. Open the Premiere tab of the MotionUI app and click Install plugin. It installs the panel with Adobe’s own plugin installer, together with a small audio helper for real audio fades.

2. Restart Premiere Pro once.

3. In Premiere, open Window, then UXP Plugins, then MotionUI. Keep the panel open while Claude works.

4. In the Premiere tab of the MotionUI app, choose Connect next to Claude Code or Codex.

5. Start a new session and ask: “Which Premiere project is open?” Claude should answer with the project name, the active sequence and the list of sequences.

Add transcripts

Claude cuts on words, so it needs to know when each word is said. Paste your OpenAI API key in the Premiere tab. MotionUI uses it for speech-to-text with the timing of every word. OpenAI bills your own key, about 0.006 USD per minute of sound. The key stays on your computer and only goes to OpenAI.

Your original sequence stays as it is

MotionUI tells Claude to build each new cut in a new sequence next to your original and to save the project between larger steps. Ask for a plan first if you want to steer before anything changes on the timeline.

If Claude cannot see Premiere

• The panel is closed. Open it from Window, then UXP Plugins, then MotionUI.

• MotionUI is missing from the UXP Plugins menu. Restart Premiere Pro after installing or updating the plugin.

• The tools are missing. Choose Connect again in the Premiere tab and start a new session.

• Audio fades do not appear. Premiere loads the audio helper at its next start, so restart it once.
