Use the AI panel with Claude Code or Codex
Send composition context to an agent, review its plan and approve the animation.
Use Claude Code or Codex with the MotionUI tools connected. Ordinary ChatGPT and Claude chats are not supported clients for this MotionUI workflow. If you use Claude Code inside the Claude desktop app, choose the Code environment.
Send the request
Open the target composition in After Effects and keep the MotionUI panel open.
In the AI tab, choose Claude Code or Codex. Use Connect now or Update connection if required.
Describe the target layers, animation order and intended result.
Click Open in Claude or Open in Codex. The panel prepares the request with composition context and also copies it to the clipboard.
Submit the request in the agent. Review the proposed plan and approve it there when it matches your intent.
Preview the result in After Effects and refine one aspect at a time.
If the agent does not open
Open Claude Code or Codex manually. If the panel reports that the prompt was copied, paste it into the coding-agent session. Check the composition details before submitting.
If the tools are missing
Check the selected client under AI → Connect AI in the MotionUI app, then start a fresh agent session. Keep After Effects and the MotionUI panel open.
